Riverside camping in Rishikesh, on the Ganga

Himalayan Ganga Retreat is a riverside camp in Rattapani, on the Neelkanth road outside Rishikesh – about 8 km from Laxman Jhula. We have spacious AC cottages on the riverbank, a natural pool, MAPAI meals (breakfast and dinner included), river rafting, yoga, and an evening bonfire. Pet-friendly. Pickup from Rishikesh on request. From ₹6,000 per night for two.

This is one of the better-located river side camps in Rishikesh – far enough from the rafting-strip noise of Tapovan to actually feel quiet, close enough to Laxman Jhula and Triveni Ghat to do the Ganga aarti and walk back the same evening.

Good to know

What’s the best time to visit?
October to March is the popular window. Cool, dry, clear skies, full rafting season. April to June runs warm in the day and cool by the river at night. July to September is monsoon: quieter, cheaper, but rafting is paused for safety.
Is it family and pet friendly?
Yes to both. The Maharaja Cottage holds up to six, which is what most families and groups book. Dogs are welcome on the property. Mention it when you book so we can set up the right space for you.
How do I book?
Send your dates from the booking card on this page, or WhatsApp us at +91 9997306041. During daytime we usually reply within an hour and send back a secure payment link.
What should I pack?
Light layers year-round, since the riverside gets cool by night even in May. A warm jacket for December and January, trekking shoes if you plan to do the forest walks, and a swimsuit for the natural pool.
Can you arrange activities in advance?
Yes. Tell us what you’re interested in when you book and our travel desk pre-books rafting, bungee, yoga sessions, Beatles Ashram walks, and private transport. We’ll send back a rough itinerary you can edit.
What’s the price for riverside camping in Rishikesh at Himalayan Ganga Retreat?
Two cottage rates, both fully air-conditioned and on the riverbank. The Deluxe Cottage AC is ₹6,000 per night for two adults plus an extra bed. The Maharaja Cottage AC is ₹12,000 per night for up to six adults – the room most families and groups book. Rates include MAPAI meals (breakfast and dinner with AM/PM chai) and the evening bonfire. No hidden fees, no peak-weekend surge pricing.
Is the Ganga clean in Rishikesh near your camp?
Yes. The stretch of Ganga at Rattapani, upstream of central Rishikesh, is one of the cleaner sections of the river. The water is fast-flowing, mountain-fed, and far less crowded than the ghats in town. We follow strict no-plastic and waste-segregation practices on the property to keep the riverbank clean.
How far is the camp from Laxman Jhula and Triveni Ghat?
The camp is about 8 km from Laxman Jhula and around 12 km from Triveni Ghat (where the evening Ganga aarti is held). It’s about 25 km from Rishikesh railway station and 35 km from Jolly Grant airport in Dehradun. Pickup and drop from Rishikesh is available on request.
Do you offer river rafting from the camp?
Yes. As one of the river rafting camps in Rishikesh, we can pre-book all standard sections – Brahmpuri (9 km, beginners), Shivpuri (16 km, the popular one) and Marine Drive (24 km, longer rapids). Equipment, certified raft guides and transport from camp are included in the rafting package.
Can large groups or families book the whole property?
Yes. We regularly host corporate offsites, college groups, wedding parties and large families. The Maharaja Cottage alone fits up to six, and we can combine tents and cottages to host groups of 30 to 70 across the property. WhatsApp us with your dates and headcount for a custom group quote.
