Himalayan Ganga Retreat is a riverside camp in Rattapani, on the Neelkanth road outside Rishikesh – about 8 km from Laxman Jhula. We have spacious AC cottages on the riverbank, a natural pool, MAPAI meals (breakfast and dinner included), river rafting, yoga, and an evening bonfire. Pet-friendly. Pickup from Rishikesh on request. From ₹6,000 per night for two.
This is one of the better-located river side camps in Rishikesh – far enough from the rafting-strip noise of Tapovan to actually feel quiet, close enough to Laxman Jhula and Triveni Ghat to do the Ganga aarti and walk back the same evening.
Two air-conditioned cottage styles. The Deluxe Cottage suits couples and small families. The Maharaja Cottage holds up to six and is the room most groups book.

Most of what brings people to Rishikesh — rafting, the aarti, the ashrams, the bungee — sits within a 20-minute drive of camp. The evening Ganga aarti and guided nature walks come included with the stay. Anything paid (rafting, bungee, day trips) is booked through our travel desk. Tell us a day ahead and we line it up.
Need a pickup from Rishikesh bus stand, the railway station, or Dehradun airport? Send us your arrival details when you enquire and we set it up.
Most “riverside camping in Rishikesh” listings put you in a flimsy tent on a noisy floodplain, fifteen minutes from a parking lot. We don’t. Himalayan Ganga Retreat is two AC cottages on a private stretch of the Ganga at Rattapani, on the Neelkanth road, with the riverbank a 30-second walk from the door. Below is what people usually ask us before they book.
What makes a good river side camp in Rishikesh is location, not whether the bed sits inside a tent or a cottage. Ours is upstream of the busy Tapovan / Laxman Jhula stretch, set back from NH-7, surrounded by sal forest and the slope down to the river. From the camp you can hear the Ganga – actually hear it. The riverbed at Rattapani is wide, the water is fast, and the section is far cleaner than what you see at the ghats in town. If you’ve been searching for “rishikesh camping near river” or “river side camp rishikesh”, this is the kind of property those searches are actually about – a real riverside camp, only with proper cottages instead of canvas.
Two cottage types, both fully air-conditioned, both with MAPAI plan included (breakfast + dinner + AM/PM chai). Rates below are per night, per room.
For most “yoga retreat rishikesh price” or “river side camping in rishikesh” searches, our Deluxe Cottage at ₹6,000 a night is the entry point. No dorms, no shared rooms, no peak-weekend surge.
Among river rafting camps in Rishikesh, the advantage of staying at Rattapani is that the rafting put-in points are upstream and you’ll be at the start of the run within 15-20 minutes. We pre-book the standard sections:
Certified raft guides, all equipment, dry bag and transport from camp are included in the rafting package. Rafting is paused during the monsoon (mid-July to mid-September) for safety reasons – we’ll tell you up front if your dates fall there.
Most of the yoga in India runs through Rishikesh, and most of that lives on this stretch of riverside. We run morning yoga and meditation on the property, drop you to Parmarth Niketan or Triveni Ghat for the evening Ganga aarti (about 12 km), and book trips to the Beatles Ashram, Neelkanth Mahadev temple, and Vashishta Gufa caves. For a yoga retreat in Rishikesh, the camp works as a quiet base. You’re away from the Tapovan foreigner strip but still close to the ghats and ashrams that matter. If you’re after a longer multi-day spiritual retreat in the Himalayas, tell us; we know the people running the better programs and can put you in touch.
The honest seasonal breakdown:
Rattapani is 8 km past Laxman Jhula on the Neelkanth road. From Delhi it’s a 6 to 7 hour drive (about 240 km), most people leave early and reach in time for lunch. From Jolly Grant airport in Dehradun, it’s roughly 70 minutes; from Rishikesh railway station, about 50. We send a vehicle and driver who knows the road if you want a pickup, just ask when you book.
If you’re comparing river side camps in Rishikesh and finding the same five properties in every listicle, this is what changes the answer for most of our guests: cottages instead of canvas, the Maharaja for groups, pets in, and no peak-weekend surge. Message us at +91 9528730156 with your dates and we come back the same day.
Send us your dates on WhatsApp and we come back the same day with rooms, transfers, and anything else you want booked alongside.
