A 3-5 hour guided nature walk in Hathipaon, Mussoorie. Aromatic herb gardens, oak forest, Doon Valley views. Add it to a Pahadi House stay, or come just for the walk.
About the reserve
Pudina Khet is a privately owned nature reserve in Saskhet, just above Hathipaon in Mussoorie. Abhay Nautiyal runs it. Inside the gate: an organic herb farm, a patch of old oak and rhododendron forest, and one clear opening that looks out over the Doon Valley.
The reserve sits at around 2,000 metres. Pace is slow, trails are gentle. The focus is herbs, medicinal plants, Himalayan birds, and the kind of forest view you don’t get on the standard Mussoorie circuit.
You can do this either way. Add the walk to a Pahadi House stay and we handle pick-up from the property. Or come just for the day if you’re staying elsewhere in Mussoorie or coming up from Dehradun. Groups stay small (2-10), so book ahead.

Frequently asked questions
Who owns and runs Pudina Khet?
The reserve is privately owned and managed by Abhay Nautiyal. He has developed it as a working organic farm and biodiversity reserve in the Hathipaon hills above Mussoorie.
How is this different from other Mussoorie walks?
Pudina Khet is off the standard tourist trail. It is small, quiet, and privately run, with a focus on aromatic herbs, medicinal plants and Himalayan birds. You meet the people behind the reserve, not just a ticket counter.
Is the walk suitable for children and older guests?
Yes. The terraced sections are gentle and the forest trail can be shortened on request. We recommend it from age 6 and up. Older guests comfortable with light hill walking will manage it fine.
Can we visit without staying at Pahadi House?
Yes. The walk is bookable as a standalone day visit. WhatsApp us at +91 9528730156 with your dates, group size, and where you are staying in Mussoorie or Dehradun, and we will set up transfer and the guided walk.
When is the best time to come?
September to November is best – post-monsoon greens, crisp air and clear Doon Valley views. March to early June is also good for herbs, flowers and birdsong. We avoid heavy-rain weeks in July and August.
What does the walk cost?
WhatsApp +91 9528730156 with your dates and group size for current rates. We quote per group when groups are small, and tell you up front whether you are booking as a stay add-on or as a standalone visit.
Plan your Pudina Khet walk
Send us your dates and group size. We’ll either fold the walk into a Pahadi House stay, or set it up on its own from Mussoorie or Dehradun.
