Yoga in the Himalayas doesn’t need a sales pitch. The thin clean air, the silence, the way the first light hits the deodar trees — your body just knows what to do with it. We offer gentle, accessible sessions for guests who want to unwind, not become bendy instagram stars.
Classes run on our open cedar deck in good weather and in a warm indoor hall when it’s cold or raining. Our teacher, Yogacharya Prakash, has taught in Rishikesh and Mysore for fifteen years and has a particular gift for making complete beginners feel welcome.
Pick from a morning practice (Hatha asana + pranayama + brief meditation), a sunset flow (gentle vinyasa, less strenuous), or a pure meditation sit. Multi-day retreats can be arranged for guests staying three nights or more.
Three main formats to choose from — or stack them across your stay for a mini-retreat.
A classical 75-minute session. Gentle warm-ups, sun salutations, 6–8 core asanas held with care, then pranayama and a closing meditation. Best on the deck at sunrise.
75 min · MorningA slower vinyasa practice designed to release the day. Less strenuous, more about breath and opening the chest and hips. A beautiful way to end a hiking day.
60 min · EveningA 45-minute guided sit — body scan, breath awareness, short silence. Completely accessible for first-timers. No yoga experience required.
45 min · AnytimeAn example morning Hatha class. Sunset and meditation sessions follow a similar structure, shorter.
Optional hot ginger water or light herbal tea on the deck. No heavy food before practice.
Sit in stillness for 5 minutes. Prakash guides you into the breath before any movement.
Sun salutations, standing poses, a couple of balances, gentle back-bends. Everything is modified for your level — zero pressure.
Breath-control practice. Anulom-vilom, kapalbhati, a taste of bhramari. Surprisingly powerful at altitude.
A guided 10-minute sit, then a gentle shavasana. Most people emerge looking completely different.
Warming herbal tea and a simple sattvic breakfast — fruit, oats, home-made granola, seasonal honey.
Unique experiences crafted for guests of Pahadi House.
