A room with a kitchen, in Rishikesh

Most places in Rishikesh give you a room and a restaurant downstairs. This one gives you a room with a kitchen in it, and the utensils to go with it. That matters if you are here for a week, feeding children, eating something particular, or simply sick of restaurants.

The house is at Bharat Vihar, opposite the Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir, about two km from Rishikesh railway station and three from Triveni Ghat. The rooms are large and plainly furnished. Super king bed, air conditioning, television, Wi-Fi, big windows. There is an inverter that keeps the light, the fan and the TV running when the power goes, and in Rishikesh the power goes.

Above the rooms there is an open terrace facing the Shivalik hills and the fields. People do yoga up there at sunrise. In the monsoon you can stand and watch the weather come over the ridge. The photographs on this page do not really get that across.

Location: Gali No. 3, opposite Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir, Bharat Vihar, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand 249203. About two km from Rishikesh railway station and six from Ram Jhula. View on Google Maps

Setting: A quiet residential lane with fields behind it, an open terrace above the rooms, and the Shivaliks in view

Tariff: From Rs 1,650 to Rs 2,350 a night. Pricing is quoted plainly, which guests have written about

Questions people ask

Where exactly is Little Sparrow Homestay?
Gali No. 3, opposite the Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir in Bharat Vihar, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand 249203. That is about two km from Rishikesh railway station and three from Triveni Ghat, on the town side rather than across the river.
Does the room really have a kitchen?
Yes, and it is the main reason people book here. Each room has kitchen access with utensils provided, so you can cook properly rather than reheat things. No meals are served by the house, so plan on cooking or eating out.
How much does a homestay in Rishikesh with a kitchen cost?
Here it is Rs 1,650 to Rs 2,350 a night depending on the room and the season. Guests have specifically written that the pricing was transparent from the start, which in this town is worth saying out loud.
How far is Ram Jhula?
About six km, roughly twenty minutes by road. Janki Setu is around seven km and Bajrang Setu at Tapovan is about eight. Triveni Ghat, which is where the evening aarti happens, is the closest at about three km.
Is it good for a longer stay?
It is built for one. A kitchen, a lift, an inverter, air conditioning, Wi-Fi and a terrace add up to somewhere you can work or stay for weeks rather than nights. The registration lists workation as one of the things it suits.
Are pets allowed?
No, not at this property. If you are travelling with a dog, tell us and we will point you at one of the pet friendly homestays on our list instead.
Is there anything to see from the property itself?
The terrace looks across fields to the Shivalik hills. People do yoga up there at sunrise, and in the monsoon you can watch the storms come over the ridge. There is a table tennis table as well.
How do I book?
Use the WhatsApp button on this page. It opens a message to Arun with the property name already in it so he knows it came from Pahadi House. Send your dates and how many of you there are.

A homestay in Rishikesh with a kitchen of its own

Rishikesh has thousands of rooms and hardly any kitchens. The ashrams feed you on their timetable. The hotels have a restaurant. The guest houses hand you a menu. None of that suits a week long stay, or children, or a diet, or wanting your own chai at six in the morning without asking anybody. Little Sparrow puts a kitchen in the room and leaves you to it.

The house is at Bharat Vihar, opposite the Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir, two km from the railway station and three from Triveni Ghat. Rooms are large: a super king bed, air conditioning, a television, Wi-Fi, big windows onto the fields, and an inverter that keeps the essentials running through a power cut. There is a lift, which not every homestay in this price range has, and parking for a couple of cars.

Bharat Vihar rather than the ghat side

Swarg Ashram and Tapovan put you in the middle of everything. That is right for three days and tiring by the end of a week. Bharat Vihar is a residential lane on the town side. You sleep in quiet, you drive or walk in for the river, and you come back to somewhere nobody is arriving at midnight. Triveni Ghat is ten minutes, Ram Jhula about twenty.

What is close by

  • Triveni Ghat, where the evening aarti is, about three km.
  • Ram Jhula at roughly six km and Janki Setu at seven.
  • Bajrang Setu at Tapovan, the crossing that reopened in 2026, about eight km.
  • Rafting at Shivpuri, around eighteen km up the Devprayag road.
  • Neelkanth Mahadev, about thirty km by road through the forest.

The terrace

It runs the length of the building, open to the sky, Shivaliks in front and fields below. Guests do yoga on it at sunrise. There is a table tennis table for the rest of the day. One review is about sitting up there through a hot afternoon and not minding the heat. Another has a photograph of a rainbow over the town taken from it.

How this listing works

Little Sparrow Homestay is a partner homestay on the Pahadi House list, not a property we run. The enquiry goes straight to Arun, so you are talking to the person who will host you. If you run a homestay in the hills and want to be on this list, it is free to register.
