comfort, warmth, or connection to the mountains
Built with local materials. Solar-powered where possible. Organic, locally sourced food. We protect the mountains we call home.
Every meal is home-cooked - dal ki pakodi, kafli, til chutney, kheer. No buffet lines, no packaged food. Real pahadi food, served with warmth.
Our hosts are mountain dwellers, not hotel staff. They grew up on these trails, know every bird call, and share stories no guidebook carries.
Every booking supports local families and helps prevent outward migration from these villages. Your stay directly sustains the pahadi way of life.

At Pahadi House, we don't just offer stays - we offer a slower, more conscious way of experiencing the Himalayas. Every property is a reflection of pahadi values: simplicity, sustainability, and soulful presence.
Tell us your dates and we'll craft the rest. No forms, no waiting - just a conversation.
Pahadi House runs two homestays in Uttarakhand and a small set of partner village stays across Garhwal. The places are run by people who live nearby. They sit in spots that took us years to find: a deodar forest near George Everest in Mussoorie, and a quiet bend of the Ganga downriver from Rishikesh.
If you've searched for unique stays in Uttarakhand and kept finding the same five resorts in every blog post, our two main properties are Camp George Everest, a Swiss-tent eco-camp at 7,000 ft inside a deodar forest near Mussoorie, and the Himalayan Ganga Retreat, a riverside cottage stay near Rishikesh. Both serve home-cooked pahadi food and do bonfire nights. We can arrange whatever you actually want to do, whether that's a sunrise walk, a rafting trip, a yoga session, or an afternoon doing nothing. Couples, families, solo travellers, and offsite groups all book with us. We try not to put them in the wrong place.
Most offbeat stays in Uttarakhand turn out to be a hotel five minutes off the highway. Camp George Everest is reached by a 2 km forest trek through pine and oak. You wake up to the Doon Valley below, and on clear days, the Garhwal Himalayas in the distance. The Himalayan Ganga Retreat sits on a stretch of riverbank away from the rafting-strip noise of central Rishikesh, which is mostly the reason guests book it. These aren't hidden gems in any marketing sense. They're just harder to reach, and quieter once you arrive.
The Himalayan Ganga Retreat is a pet-friendly stay in Uttarakhand in the genuine sense. Dogs are welcome on the property, in the gardens, and on village walks along the river. Water bowls, outdoor space they can actually use, and pet-safe meal options if you ask. Camp George Everest can take well-behaved dogs in some seasons, but check with us first; it depends on weather and how full the forest camp is. If you've been searching for dog-friendly mountain stays or pet-friendly hotels in Uttarakhand and getting non-answers, ask us anything.
Some of the most secluded places in Uttarakhand still don't have a Google review. Camp George Everest sits inside a forest reserve with patchy mobile signal, which is mostly the point. Couples come for that. So do writers, and at least one filmmaker who edits there every monsoon. The Himalayan Ganga Retreat has private river access and no neighbours in sight. It's the quietest riverside stay in the area, though you'll have to take our word for it until you visit. Both are designed as secluded mountain retreats, not as places to be entertained.
Our two flagship Himalayan stays are in Mussoorie and Rishikesh, with a small network of partner village homestays across Tehri, Pauri, and Kanatal. From Delhi it's a 6-7 hour drive. Dehradun is about an hour from George Everest. The two main stays are 45 km apart, so people often combine them in one trip. Both are run as Himalayan homestays in the village sense: locally staffed, locally sourced, and built around how pahadi people here actually live.
March to June is the busy window: rhododendron blooms, summer escapes, and clear Himalayan views. Most Mussoorie camping bookings happen here. September to November is the other peak, with post-monsoon trails, autumn light, and good stargazing nights at George Everest. December to February is for people who want snow at Mussoorie or a quiet riverside winter near Rishikesh, which suits couples and solo travellers looking for a secluded Himalayan stay. Monsoon (July and August) is its own thing; the river retreat is the better call then.
For boutique Himalayan homestays or offbeat Uttarakhand camping, the easiest way to plan is to message us. Weekend getaway from Delhi, anniversary trip, yoga break, family vacation, solo trip - tell us what you want and we'll suggest dates, the right property, and an itinerary that fits. WhatsApp us at +91 9528730156. No booking forms. We answer ourselves.
