Where the forest breathes and the mountains listen
Hidden in the dense oak and deodar forests of the Garhwal Himalayas, Kanatal Forest Stay is a Pahadi House retreat designed for those who want to truly disappear into the mountains. At 8,500 feet, this tiny hamlet between Mussoorie and Chamba is one of Uttarakhand’s best-kept secrets — no crowds, no traffic, just birdsong, mist, and endless green.
Step out of your cottage into the Kodia Jungle for a morning nature walk, spend the afternoon watching clouds roll through the valley, and gather around a crackling bonfire as the stars come out. With Surkanda Devi temple, Tehri Lake, and Dhanaulti all within easy reach, it’s a base for adventure and a sanctuary for rest — your call.

Layers are key — mornings and evenings are cool even in summer. A warm jacket for winter, comfortable walking shoes for forest treks, and a rain layer if you’re visiting in monsoon. We provide bedding, towels, and hot water.
